When the Federal Government tested all the AV/AS providers for their protections needs Nortons was the hands down winner.

5- I don't know about avast or other antivirus
1. AVG (I have been safe for over 2 years using it)

2. McAfee (good, but friends of mine got virusses while using it)

3. Norton (I have found virusses on most PC's with Norton installed. Installl AVG on a PC with Norton and in my experience there is a 70% chance that you will find at least 5 virusses on it).

Unrated:

Avast (no experience with it).
Norton: 6/10 trys to take too much control of your computer

McAfee: 7/10 Good but can let some things slip by quiet easily

Avast: (not sure to be honest)

AVG: 7/10 Perfect price =) and is a fairly good defender
1.AVG 99% Found the virus I had on my PC

2.CA Anti-Virus 75% About the same

3.McAfee 75% About the same

4.Stinger 60% Some what

5.Norton 1% Did not find anything even though

there was a virus

I don't know anything about Avast.
