Email antivirus software or scanning is a good thing but it does not protect your computer from viruses that enter by something other than email. You can get viruses in a lot of ways--- Instant Messenger, from a disk you load, peer-to-peer programs (filesharing). Email antivirus is not complete protection for your computer. You probably want to purchase an antivirus package that protects the PC itself as well as your email. It's worth the investment. Make sure you get one that you can set up to update the virus patterns on its own, since virus writers release new viruses all the time. Symantec, McAfee, PCCillan and FProt are just a few. Most have trial versions so check them out one by one and decide which you like best.
My People PC account comes with free email Antivirus. Do I need to purchase additional Antivirus software?antivirus scan
