AVG is deffinately NOT rated the best (not even close) - but it is free.

Honestly, it's better to pay if you can. One of the higher ranked ones (usually in the top 3) and my personal favorite is BitDefender. http://www.bitdefender.com

Twice now I've gotten it on sale on their site for $33, for 3 computers, for 2 years each. That's $5.50 per computer per year. That's CHEAP.

Oh, also don't (PLEASE DON'T) use Symantec (aka Norton) products. They are horrible. They kill the speed of your computer. I worked at a computer shop for a couple of years and I can honestly say that Norton provides us with FIFTY percent of our business. It either doesn't catch the viruses or it just bugs up on itself, or people complain their computer is too slow. It's total garbage.

McAfee isn't much better (but it is better.. slightly). Both are rated pretty low, consistenly.
